El Ministro expressed deep concern about the difficult situation that the Spanish countryside is facing due to drought, particularly focusing on the condition of the olive groves in our locality. Our president and the manager of this cooperative explained to him the state of the olive groves owned by our farmers and the efforts being made to address this situation. They also conveyed some of the concerns raised by our members. The Minister explained that he is currently engaged in various meetings in Brussels to tackle the drought problem at the European level. Although he couldn't provide an immediate solution, he assured us that they are working on it because they recognize that the olive sector is one of Spain's main economic pillars, and it is crucial to take action to protect the Spanish economy.
The Minister toured all our facilities and observed the investments being made to adapt different areas to meet new needs. These projects range from digitalization to infrastructure renovations, incorporating more modern materials. Another aspect explained to the Minister was the various trips our manager has been undertaking worldwide to promote our olive oil and the competitions in which we have participated, as well as the awards we have received.
Finally, the Minister was presented with products from our cooperative as a gift, allowing him to personally experience the high quality of our oils. One of these bottles was personalized to showcase another aspect of our daily work. The Minister was accompanied by the local PSOE team, including the mayoral candidate Jesús Caballero and councilor candidates.
